Memandangkan Ramadhan dah nak sampai penghujung untuk tahun ni -- dan aku yang tak sudah-sudah dengan mood damsel in distress wanita mengandung yang berhari raya di perantauan tanpa orang tersayang -- aku dah mula rajin melayan drama-drama melayu yang disajikan di TV malaysia sepanjang bulan Ramadhan ni just to deviate my sad mind from missing hometown too much. So, I asked dearie husband what are the best drama for Ramadhan this year -- and he, being the all-time-local-drama enthusiast recommended "Ramadhan Jangan Pergi".
Sinopsis -- sila google!
Upon watching the first episode -- I became hooked -- and followed through the subsequent episodes. It was indeed dramatic -- and towards the 16th episode, I couldn't help comparing it to my all time favourite -- Nur Kasih.
Both drama is about isteri yang teraniaya, orang ketiga/keempat/kelima yang tak habis-habis mengganggu rumahtangga yang sepatutnya harmoni, suami yang kejam, yang akhirnya mendapat balasan in their own way, lepas tu bertaubat, trying to mend things, and throughout the way, ada salah faham, mistaken perception and so on just keep the drama rolling. Suami yang kejam tak ada hati perut dari kedua-dua drama menampilkan watak bernama Adam (dari Nur Kasih) dan Johan (dari Ramadhan Jangan Pergi).
Adam vs. Johan.
Bezanya dua drama itu -- adalah, dalam beberapa episod saja, aku -- sebagai penonton dah mampu memaafkan Adam (Nur Kasih) and really looking forward for him to get back to his wife, Tizzy and lead a new harmonic life.
Adakah sebab Remy Ishak yang berlakon sebagai Adam, and he looks so honest and true to his acting that it is easier to forgive him? Tak juga.... I think -- it is the plot of the drama itself that really jiggle my perceptions. In both drama, both husbands menerima a kind of tragic condition that leads them towards misery and begin to reminisce their past mistakes and what they can do to mend things.
Adam -- dalam perjalanan dia mahu mengubah diri dia, mencari kemaafan orang yang dianiaya -- which is the wife -- he totally change in a way that is easier for us viewer to accept. The Quran given by that somebody while he is in prison has totally shaped his inner-self, and albeit the hard-headed self he portrayed in his younger days, we see another dimension of himself that is very compassionate and indeed soft-hearted and filled with true act of repentance and remorse. We see how Adam tried to build a new life by creating a better relationship with the people around him -- and occasional circumstances that often lead him to being misunderstood make us love his character even more. Obsessed -- in fact.
Tetapi, Johan -- on the other hand, is the vice versa of the above case. In the middle of the way, he realised how terrible of a husband he is and tried to find ways to seek forgiveness from his ex-wife. But, he did it in an insanely annoying way that sampai sekarang, aku still tak boleh terima kalau dia mahu kembali bina semula hidup dengan Farah.
1) First, he build lies upon another lies dalam perjalanan dia mahu bertaubat itu -- that it just does not sync with the concept bertaubat itself. He lied to his mum, his dad, and his girlfriend everytime he wanted to sneak out to meet his ex-wife. Albeit the excuse of wanting to protect Farah from being falsely accused by his family, he is making it worse.
2) Second, upon every discussion about the lost investment with his business partner, you can't really see any flicker of remorse in the tone of his voice. It's more of frustration that he couldn't get his father's money back.
3) Third, in the first place, he is trying to seek blessing from his mom that he agreed to her ridiculous conditions which includes divorcing the then wife, Farah -- tapi lepas dah dapat bertubi-tubi kesusahan dalam hidup, he became the old anak derhaka again by raising his voice to his own mum.
4) Fourth, he keeps coming in to the house of his ex-wife walaupun mereka dah bercerai and it is just so plain annoying. Konsep bertaubat apakah itu yang kau tak sudah-sudah nak pegang tangan ex-wife kau dan masuk rumah orang yang bukan lagi muhrim kau?
5) Fifth, dia mahu rujuk kepada bekas isterinya tanpa betul-betul merujuk kepada yang empunya badan and it seems very autocratic and on the edge of being dictatorial without considering the feelings of his ex-wife. I mean -- give her some time dude. Your family has been bashing her life without any mercy and now you came barging in kata "saya nak tebus dosa saya bla bla bla" and all those shit. Who wants to lead another life with the same person who have been building lies over another lies even throughout his journey of repentance?
6) And yang paling yang aku tak boleh terima, on the 14th episode, waktu Nadiah the girlfriend naik sawan pegang pisau cuba nak bunuh dia sebab terlalu stress dengan the mashed up chaos caused by him, Farah tried to protect him, and guess what -- being a 'gentlemen' he always is, he placed his own son in front of him, sambil cuba minta the cray-cray girlfriend untuk bertenang shielded by his own kid!!! What kind of father figure are you trying to portray here...???
Ok lah... mungkin sedikit emotional thinking that the drama is coming towards the end -- and predicting that just like any cliche Malay dramas -- they will definitely get back together.... Good drama indeed -- yang mampu membuatkan aku terdetik to post an entry about it here -- but deep down, please please let it be an ending yang tak annoying -- please...
Haha!
