Memoir of a Single Non-Married Straight Woman

Imagining the perfect man to come passes by your doorstep is like waiting for a cat to be born with triple head.  It is like a possibility of 1 in a million to have that man who is not that perfect, but simply the match made for you and completes you in a way that simply satisfies you.  That makes you go, yes, yes and yes.  That perfect man may not necessarily have to have the looks, but he posses this 'X' thing that complete you like a missing jigsaw puzzle.

Being single, non-married and straight woman, at 26, you can't avoid from thinking when are you going to settle down with a man.  No matter how ironic it may sound, but man seems the be among the subject that keeps on lingering at the top of your head like a flying cock -- sometimes it flies high, and sometimes it just sits there -- on top of your head while warming their eggs -- metaphorically speaking.

My encounter with different type of man started when I was in my third year of degree - a little too late compared with those of my age.  What can I do, when you're fat, and short, and a nerd, and shy, nobody seems to think that you may be one interesting creature.  Anyway, thoughout this duration of 'encounter', I begin collecting facts and ideas what men are really like in reality, and my doubts and perception are later convinced as I started working - there's no such single man can come close to being a man like Michael Scofield.

Man have a lot of void spaces.  It's called their empty moment that they love to endeavor.  You can't really fill that space with your things or your blabberings, or else, they went berserk.  Leave their void space alone.  They would prefer that space to be filled with fantasy of naked woman or porn, but other than that, it's better to leave the empty space, empty.

MAN WHO READ BOOKS

Tell me about a man who read books apart from my older brother.  If they're not in any academic institution, and pursuing their studies, it's unlikely to see them reading a book - apatah lagi collecting one.  They doesn't care if Michael Crichton come out with a new version of fiction.  They don't even know who is Sidney Sheldon and might think that Sidney is a woman.

They read newspaper - yes - but not books.

If you go "Oh God, reprinted version of Sidney Sheldon's books!", they'll give you this blank stare as if you're speaking alien language.  They just followed your butt as you browse along the bookstore aisle - and maybe they'll stop to books like "Permata Yang Hilang" and such.

Seriously.

HYGIENIC MAN

I don't mean hygienic as in meterosexually or gay-ishly hygienic type.  What I mean by hygienic would be those who keep the air clean -- the non-smoking man.  The man that you'll most likely find is those who can't wait to puff their ciggie after every meal or anytime possible.  Look at their face while they're inhaling the toxic fumes, it's like  having orgasm in the form of smoke.

Yeah -- so they'll try to exhale the smoke away from your face -- but well, the debris and aroma is something you can't avoid when you're sitting in front of a smoker.  They say they care about you, but they seems to care more about their ciggie moment.

And don't tell me that those who puff ciggie cares about the environment.  They might even think the greenhouse effect is just some house painted with green colour.

MAN WHO THROWS GARBAGE IN THE GARBAGE BIN

They complained that women kept unnecessary stuff in their purse.  Well, it's our purse, we're the one carrying the big purse in a big bag.  We're carrying our own burden.

But - them - they throw the receipts anywhere possible after every transaction or every purchase.  Even if the garbage bin is just within a walking distance, they'll get rid of all those receipts or plastics bag anywhere possible - the road side, by the stairs, in the elevator - you name it.

The last time I met with that type of person, I ended up picking-up his garbage and throw it in the bin.

If you can't even have that tiny amount of responsibility of keeping the town clean, how do you think they'll treat their wives?  Definitely the wife is the one that have to deal with all those stinky socks and trousers.

CHARMING MAN

They'll be charming when they want something from you.  When you don't want to give the thing that they want, they'll be in the 'i'm a jerk' mode.  They say things that make you feel like you are at fault.  When their life is in misery, they tend to blame other people but themselves for their misfortune.

THE NON-MARRIED MAN

And when you think he came close to becoming the perfect men, you'll find out that he's married.

***

Let me tell you why character like Michael Scofield seems to be the character in every woman's fantasy.  He is intelligent.  He read books, and a heck of a planner.  He tattooed his entire body the blue print of the prison in an artistic way.  He didn't blame other people for his failures, yet, he's amending things in the way that every man should.  He's a man with dignity, and a family person who stood by the people he cared about.  When strucked with problems, he thinks forward.  He's calm, and he HOT!  He is a man full of compassion, that he is often being used by the bad guy instead.  Yet, he is a man with principles and beliefs.

He killed himself to save the one person that he loved, for God's sake.

And that's why he is just a character in a drama series - you'll get good rating for drama which have that kind of character - because - you can't simply find that kind of man anywhere around.

Yeah, this is one of my male-chauvinistic moment.  I'm biased, I'm full of hatred, I'm irritated - for I am being blamed for things that he did not want to decide for himself.  I'm tired of helping.  Fed-up.

If special relationship means that you are the FIRST person to look for when he's in deep shit, and the LAST person he'll think off when the effort fruited result - so, screw special relationship.

I'm single and unmarrried - and I have this license to trash about man.  For those who are married, and are blessed with your own perfect jigsaw puzzle guy, be grateful -- for your place is the position where people like us find very hard to reach.  So, they tend to be insensitive some of the time - but hey, he's your missing pieces.  Just love him before he love someone else.
